We have currently been dog watching my aunties white male staffy while she is in hospital.
Today we came home after visiting a friend to find Roxie, but no Jackson. No gate was open, our house and backyard are completely secure. We thought my aunties partner might have come to take him but a quick phone call determined that wasn't the case.
Started to panic at this point, wondering how the dog got out. We thought he may have eaten something and was sick somewhere and literally looked in every closet, under every bush. I start to look around the area when my mum rings. Her bedroom faces the street and she has a big floor to ceiling window thatlooks over the porch onto the street. It was open (always is) and somehow the dog has pushed it, broken the latches at the bottom and squeezed through. Roxie either didn't see it or didn't push as forcefully.
I have called the lost dogs home and left a note at the current vet. He is micro chipped and wearing a collar, but has no tags. We asked at all local shops, and every person on the street if they'd seen him. I walked all the way along the creek 4km calling him and asking. It's dark now so I've come in and will resume the search tomorrow I suppose. I spent 4 hours driving around calling and looking.
Is there anything else I can do? Ring all vets within 20km and let them know? My auntie has NO idea he is missing, we aren't going to tell her because she's really sick and this won't help at all. Her partner is blaming us for the dogs escape. We have babysat numerous dogs, for friends, for the r.s.p.c.a, 6 dogs this year, and no other dog has escaped.
I don't have a photo of him, but I'm guessing the next step is making posters with his description and a phone number?
