I was in the Supermarket recently and cruised the pet food aisle just to do something different for a change (my dogs and cats fed raw)... and I saw tins of stuff called "Fish for Dogs" by Safcol.
Picked it up and had a look and the ingredients listed are fish, chicken mince... and then my memory fails me. There are suposedly no flavours, colours, preservatives, animal bi-products, fillers or wheat gluten. Four flavours including Oceanfish with tuna, brown rice and kelp; Oceanfish with barramundi, potato and carrot; Atlantic salmon with risotto; and Sardines with tuna, rice and Vegetables. It also apparently comes in a pouch for mixing with dry food.
A quick online search did not fill in the ingredients blanks, but the Ethical Consumer Guide gave Safcol a tick meaning moderate praise.
Has anyone out there used it or does anyone know more about it? I'm concerned about feeding fish (other than human grade) due to potential mercury (and even human stuff not guaranteed), but then, I wouldn't mind an occasional alternative to raw fish (which is pretty smelly when defrosting!!).
What do others think?
