Well Boof and Lilly are settling well however Boof has some god awful spots that have developed and seem to be getting worse.
The spots: range is size from roughly a pea to a little bigger than a 5 cent piece, they are a lump in that the area around them is hard and when you feel around it is certainly raised. The surface of them goes all scaly almost like he has REALLY bad dandruff, if I pick that off the hair comes off (very easily) and you are left with bare skin. Then the dandruff/scabby stuff comes back and I pick it off and the process continues (gross I know but they're weird so I'm very intrigued).
We've been to the vet twice, first time they thought they were mosquito bites and his immune system was overacting so we went on antihistamines and combined steroids. Three days later there was no improvement, if anything they were worse, so back we went and this time (all 4 vets at our surgery) they were baffled. They are a little (only very slightly) pussy, but they don't itch or cause him any discomfort. They don't look like anything caused by a worm or hot spots or fungal. But on to antibiotics he went to see how that goes, if nothing is sorted, when he gets neutered (25th oct) they will do a puncture biopsy to have sent away.
In the meantime, I am altering his diet. He was eating beef mince, brisket bones, chicken carcasses, roo mince, ox tail, and enduro dry food with the odd biscuit type treat and liver treats etc. So now we are giving the enduro away, we have purchased Holistic Select and are taking all beef out of his diet. I have purchased more roo mince and chicken mince and scored assorted chicken pieces from our IGA deli for only $2.99/kg. I have been advised to add Flaxseed Oil, Evening primrose and fish oil to their meals once a day, as well as adding an egg to one meal a week and making sure they eat one meal of sardines a week.
Now all that said, anyone got any suggestions or had anything similar? I will post a photo tonight of the spots, at work at the moment.
