Hi everyone, I am a newbie with a 5yo female Silky X named Coco. I am at my wits end because she often wees, and sometimes poos, inside.
The story....we moved into a new 3 level home 12 months ago and have a doggy door in the laundry which is on the bottom level. To our delight she took to the doggy door beautifully and was the perfect little dog for about 6 months, at which time she decided the lovely fluffy rug in the rumpus room next to the laundry was much more comfy to stand on to do wees I only realised she was doing this when I stood in it and unfortunately I never have caught her in the act. If I chastised her for doing a "wee on mummy's rug" she would look very guilty and go all sooky. Finally it got to the stage where we had to chuck the rug ... it was in a bad way. Ok...no rug there now for the princess so she decided my brand new "white" lounge would be her next target, not only for wees, but yes, poos look great on a white lounge. At the moment I have the lounge covered in puppy mats and towels and last week alone found three wee patches and a small poo. I find she does this more often in bad weather, God forbid she should get her princess paws wet. We also have a rug on the top loungeroom floor and she has does a few on it as well. She has done none in any carpeted rooms so I guess I can be thankful for small mercies. Also, in our previous home she did the same thing except chose one particular room to do it in.
Long winded story I know, but would love some advice on this, it's getting past the joke!
