Now....no-one get there knickers into a bunch
I was flicking through the paper and saw rabbits for sale, and it reminded me of how hard (and expensive, but am not THAT bothered by price, I am just a natural bargain hunter, always looking for the best deals.....so I can spend more ) it is to get game type meats, especially rabbits, as thats apparently one of the more nutritious meats for them.
But what would be the legalities of raising rabbits for food? I mean people raise/breed mice for their snakes, so would it be classed as the same thing, or because its a rabbit would there be extra laws involved.
Not that I like laws that much! I was speaking to my father (who happens to be one of those annoying know-it-all trivia people PMSL, which was really annoying when I was younger, his tirade speeches often went on for upto 2-3 hours at me anyhoo, I said, well how easy would it be to move to an area where roos are counted as a nuisance and just shoot them for the dogs food? Upon which point he told me, that even in those parts, you have to have a permit to kill roos, and that permit states that you are a primary producer (like raising sheep or cows for meat etc) and that the kangaroos were a danger to your producing.
So if I was raising something that gets wasted by the human market, I am allowed to shoot roos and leave their decomposing bodies there, but if I actually want to kill them to provide nearly 100% of the meat to living beings, its illegal? Thats just too much for me ROFL.
And whilst I''m babbling away as I do (with no introduction btw, must get around to that LOL)
If you had a live rabbit, do you have to skin it *shudder shudder* for the dogs or can you just pop a bunny back there and let them kill it??? And how do dogs not get sick with green tripe? lol. I spoke to a vet today about where I could get it from and she was clueless and said "um.....I wouldn't reccomend it" isn't it supposed to be THE most nutritious meat for dogs?
Anyhoo just feel free to me LOL, I'm on a mums forum too, but they are used to me babbling
