i have a 1 year old kelpie who whenever we go on walks always tends to appear aggressive towards other dogs that are being walked. i know she isnt a aggressive dog as i have had her assesed by trainers around other dogs.. and just this weekend i took her up to a friends farm where she was off leash with 3 other dogs for the first time and yes she was a little "aggresive like" at first toward the other dogs, but she settled down once she got to know them and played chasey with them for hours which went really well. the only thing was i couldnt pat the other dogs as she got jealous or something and and arched up at them.
im personaly thinking it may be a protective issues as she absolutely loves all people, and we have a really close bond
i have tryed training, halti's (gave up on them as she never got used to it and constanly tryed pulling them off on walks, which she succeded) i currently use a gentle leader harness.. i really DONT want to resort to a choke chain, i let my trainer try it on her once and yes it did make her stop barking at another dog but she was shaken up for a few days after.
i was thinking maybe a martingale coller which is like a half check chain that cant fully choke a dog to try to controll her.. but yeah just a bit unsure...
makes me nervours to go on walks rather then enjoy them with her like i should. any ideas?
