Kimba and I have been having a lot of trouble at obedience school.
I tried taking her down to our local oval to practice at a similar time to the classes so we could improve.
She did everything I asked her and really focused on everything.
We got in the car and I got an sms and while I replied, a kangaroo come out of the bush and hopped around the field. Kimba froze and was just staring it down.
I went home and came down the next day and I could have been hitting her with a stick and she wouldn't have noticed me. Her head was down and I wasn't going to risk getting her off leash, I think she would've gone searching for roos so I took her home.
Tonight at training a similar thing happened. She found a small dead bird and just couldn't ignore it, I had to drag her away and the whole time her head was smelling the ground and trying to get to it.
I need her attention! I called, yelled, bribed but nothing worked. Even the instructor tried! It didn't matter what we did she was after it.
I had to try and continue but it was pretty much me dragging a 30kg dead weight around the field. I would've left but I wanted to learn what I have to do so maybe we could try at home.
On top of this I also need help with the actual things we are being graded on!
I can't practice with a dog that has one thing on her mind!
