Pedro has been getting a brush most nights and raw bones every day, but still has a little bit of plaque on his teeth. Keep at it for a bit longer, or should I give doggy toothpaste a go?
Had a look at Marnie's teeth the other day and all her incisors are blunt at the ends. Apart from that they're white and shiny and perfect. Could this happen naturally? Or has she broken them off on something like a bone? Can't say I ever noticed before and if they were like that at the vet's a couple of weeks ago, she didn't say anything either.
FYI Marnie is not quite 2 years old, eats mainly a mix of dry and raw meaty bones. They would get marrow bones maybe once a month, probably less.
Anyone else have dogs with blunt teeth?
Does Marnie play a lot with tennisballs? Tennisball are like sandpaper on dogs teeth and particularly chewing and biting on them grinds off the teeth.
Marnie is mad for tennis balls!! Crap. What should I do? Clear them out of the yard and only let her have them supervised? She's not 2 yet, I'd like her to have some teeth in her old age.
DA is still waiting for a photo of Marnie cleaning her teeth with toothbrush at bathroom basin.
Here's a photo of Marnie cleaning her teeth!
Hippo she prefers tennis balls but she'll play with anything roughly the same size and shape if she has to. I'll leave her Kong ball in the yard but the rest are strictly for fetching from now on.
Ohhh... Marnie reminds me of my dog! Mine was a cattle x kelpie and very similar looking
Good luck with not allowing tennis balls, it looks like she loves them
I'm not taking them away altogether Krystal, I think that would be called cruel and unusual punishment!
But I will make sure she doesn't have them lying around the yard to chew on while I'm at work. I don't want to end up with a stumpy-toothed cattle dog
I think Marnie is a little bit stumpy-tailed CD, a little bit heeler and a little bit secret ingredient - seems to have worked out well! Let's call her a one-off designer dog
