I'm with Greys on this. A nice scissor trim around feet and feathering can help make your life easier.
But once you start to clip them you basically need to keep doing it IMO. The hair comes back dull and rough.
Had a couple at the kennels that needed to be clipped because the owners were not brushing them all the way thru. They looked funny with the head part left too.
So unless it's for medical reasons I'd stick with brushing and combing.
A poodle is a whole different kettle of fish.
