So as you guys know Keeda is finally moving in with us - in two weeks! I'm very excited and getting everything ready and one of the main things I plan on doing is improving her diet. She will first of all be getting less food (currently my mom definitely overfeeds her for her size, and feeds too many treats as well) and eating -better- food (I just don't like those supermarket sausage things, they seem like junk. I can't remember the brand name)
I'd love some nutrition advice for her. I was thinking of the following:
Chicken necks or wings for breakfast and one of the BARF patties you get from Better Pets & Gardens at night.
I've heard good things about the BARF patties, but would love some feedback on these. However the problem with them is that Keeda doesn't really like them all that much...I might try the different types, so far she's only tried the chicken ones previously. I'm of the opinion that if she's hungry she'll eat it and I don't want my dog to be picky about her food, so if it's good for her that's what she'll eat - but if there is anything else that's just as good that she will find more enjoyable I would prefer to feed that. Any advice? I'd prefer to stick away from super-processed foods and kibble.
I'll also give sardines a go as some of you guys mentioned in the Fish for Dogs thread and she gets 1 raw egg per week.
This is going to be quite a big change for her, so I'll be switching her over to the new foods gradually and monitoring her closely to make sure that it all agrees with her. She's had all of these foods before (except the sardines) I know she's fine with chicken necks/wings and she's also been fine with the BARF patties other than the fact that she doesn't like them all that much, but I'll still be careful when switching her diet.
Does anyone have any advice/feedback/tips for a good diet?
