I have started clicker training Pipi and need some advice.
I tell her to drop, she does it, the second she hits the floor I press the click button and immediately reward her with a treat. But, I sat there for a good 30 minutes doing drop but she still doesn't know that the click means good job even though she knows that treats do. Is 30 minutes too long, should I shorten our training sessions? As it is school holidays I have been able to fit more sesh's in but I would also like some advice on how many sesh's a day we should be doing? Today we did 2 as I only bought the clicker this arvo, but this is no excuse, and one coming later on, is 3 too many or not enough?
I have never done clicker training before with Pipi but am slowly learning the ropes.
I would love to hear about your clicker training experiences also.
I found an old thread on here about clicker training but it didn't give me the answers I am looking for.
How many times per training session should I teach her the trick as I don't want her to eat too many treats that many times a day. Advice on how long each sesh is, how many treats / times I do the trick do I do, and how many times a day do I work with her on this?
I know training a dog takes time but how long did it take those of you who have had experience with clicker training to master the trick you are teaching your dog / pup?
I bought a clicker today and it has an adjustable volume control on it to suit your dogs ears, and decided to do clicker training after reading so many positive reviews on it.
Any advice is much appreciated.
