A man who tossed a stranger's chihuahua off a bridge in a fit of anger faces more than four years in prison.
David Beers, 35, from Maryland in the United States will be sentenced on June 7 for snatching the dog from a stranger's driveway.
He pleaded guilty to aggravated animal cruelty and theft.
Caisha and Timothy Wantz's dog Zoey was stolen before being thrown out Beers's car window as he crossed a creek on a state road.
Neither Beers nor his lawyer offered a reason for his actions in court on Monday.
Beers told police he was angry that the Wantz family had ordered him off their 25-acre property after he stopped to make a phone call. He said he thought their driveway was a utility road.
Beers left the property but returned a few minutes later when the Wantz family had gone and grabbed the white-and-tan chihuahua.
"I let the dog go while driving, out of the passenger window," Beers said in a police statement.
