The best things in life, aren't things
Thanks TKay, that's quite sad.
I think sometimes ppl will do what they want, regardless of advice given. We could talk till dooms day on here to ppl about puppy mills, back yard breeders, disreputable pet shops and the likes, and try to educate them on the dangers and pitfalls, but at the end of the day some ppl will still just ignore it all and go and buy whatever they see fit at the time.
If I am right....then you did know what you know now
The information given to her was done so judgementally, just as what is happening here. IMO so far Amy has given the best, most helpful advice in this thread. I've just read through the entire thing too.
I know Amy didn't understand it because I explained to her what was wrong with the picture myself. I did it without judging her, without telling her she's a bad person for getting Poppy the way she did.
Fair enough we all tried to explain it, BUT no-one did it in a way that was understandable. I'm certain that she felt judged, isolated, attacked and upset about the way the information was first presented to her.
I agree that BYB, Mills/Farmers, Pet shops and purpose bred crosses are a very bad thing. The start of it was Don Burke btw, and even I believed him at the time.
We can spout off how bad these people are all we like, but until we try to be more understanding of those who don't know any better, they're going to go RUNNING to those who support them and tell them they are doing the right thing (even if those same people are the ones doing the wrong thing).
I hope you can understand what I'm saying here.
I don't think crosses are bad, but if you want one, go to the pounds, go to the shelters and get them from there, it may take a while to find the right one but you'll have saved a life!
Its then when people come into contact with crossbreed sellers that the information is passed on. JMO,
