Last week I bought home a 7 week old German Shepherd Puppy. I already have an 11 year old German shep at home. She has taken well to the little puppy and has been licking and mothering her. She is territorial over her food and will snarl at the pup if she comes near her food (which I assume to be normal), but she is a very well temperred dog.
Everywhere I have read puppies should eat 3 times a day. The pup loves her bones and some left overs that we give her (i.e. cooked meat) but she does not want her dry dog food. I have been trying to feed her the Science Diet dry dog food, with premium beef mince (because she doesnt like chicken mince) and a little bit of puppy milk, but she wont eat it. When the older dog is around she will take a few bites and lose interest. The breeders fed her Pedigree dog food, but my vet told me that the science diet is better for a growing pup and he has seen the health benifits of large dogs having that nutritional value. I want her to get used to eating dry dog food as it has all the nutrition that a pup needs at this age. I am don't want to feed her just bones and leftovers because she won't get the nutrition that she needs from it, but I don't want her to starve.
Not sure what to do, any opinions and advice would be great!
