I thought it might be fun, to see into the dog life of others.
There are days, when my boy shines for me. He's everything i ever wanted from a dog friend. There are days when im nearly in tears with frustration too.
So, please send in your examples of the highs and not so highs.
Bernie: 5 month old German Shepherd
Not so good: the previous weekend. It had been raining, the training ground oval was full of smells. A new puppy who is snarling, and Bernie is up for a fight. Suddenly, a completely new, aggressive response. Lunging so repeatedly, my shoulder was badly bruised. Being a complete plonka.
And to top it off lol
the trainer suggests to me: i have to learn to stop telling my dog: 'please come and sit here, if you wouldnt mind?'. instead i need to learn to say, Sit! and mean it. This is a very exciteable pup. And stop touching him. He's too exciteable to be touched.
Which is absolutely perfectly true. So we practiced. and practiced and practiced.
Good: yesterday, i walked him. We met a dog friend he knows well, a adult female border collie, and a new absolutely crazy delightful to watch, not own dog (poodle x golden retriever), who was white and huge. They chased and lept all over each other for 20 mins. The border collie content to round the silly pups up and bring them to us over and over again. Then down to dog training. This week its at Pet Expo. He trained well, heeled beautifully, his best to date. I walked in a straighter line, he met pigs, dogs, chickens, ducks, babies, toddlers, children, and lots of people wanting to pat him, his idea of haven. a wonderful day.
