My OH hates training the dogs, he leaves all of it up to me, but he's quite happy to say the commands and get them to do tricks AFTER I have taught them.
Then he wonders why all our dogs follow me around and not him
Training is great for bonding, and if you both want Poppy to bond really well with you then I think you should both be doing the training.
I think our posts about sum it up. You learn to train puppy and then you train OH. And if OH is not ok with that - he'd better come too. Note - a lot of the same methods that work on puppy work on OH too - eg loads of praise for each tiny step in the right direction and a bit of "uh uh" and ignore for 30 seconds (or as long as it takes for puppy/OH to notice), for corrections. And the liberal dosing with yummy feel good treats help too.
It is also important because it is fun and you see other cute puppies
