I took my 7 month old Aussie bulldog in for x-rays after he'd had been lame for 4-5 weeks and the results came back with hip displaysia. This is the worst outcome and has me devastated to to have such a young dog in pain so early in his life.
So far I have been keeping his food down and adding fish oil and glucosamine to his food and taking him swimming once a week for excercise.
I'm not sure what I going to do in regards to have surgery done or whether he needs it as I havent gone to a specialist yet.
I've read up on the internet that most bulldogs have shallow sockets and hip diplaysia to some degree.
Also that when they mature the hip ligaments strengthen and the problem goes away.
This may resolve itself with time, or it may stay the same, or it may get worse -
only time will tell.
Heres an x-ray of Deebo's hips
And Heathy hips.
