I was just reading Clea's thread she started about the Cesar Millan Puppy Mills episode she watched and didn't want to de-rail it so thought I would start my own thread...
After reading it I am worried we are too 'hard' on Poppy when telling her "No", "Down" and "Uh, Uh".
We generally use a very firm tone and then move on to the growl tone.
For example - Miss has decided it could be fun to jump up and stand on the coffee table!!! Well this is just NOT on! She has learn't to jump on the couch and we do let her up there so I guess she sees the coffee table as an extension on that.
Last night I was VERY firm about telling her "NO DOWN" and then she did it AGAIN! So out came the growl! After that she gives me the sad puppy eyes and goes and lays down in the hall just next to the lounge (so she is still close and with us - I think she just like the tiles) and gives me more puppy eyes!
She definately is getting more "pushy" with the boundaries. I want a well mannered, well behaved dog but I don't want her to be all scared of us.
We start puppy preschool on Monday so am hoping that helps but wanted your opinion on this.
