I'll try and make this short-
My sister & her family's dog ownership history:
They have had a couple of dogs in the past, I know at least one was chained up & used to escape & go wandering into town.
My sister had been saying a year ago that they were thinking of getting a dog for the kids, mainly the youngest son. At this point I am worried...
Last year they ended up with a dog from the pound, at first she hung around their house (no fences!) but then started returning back to the kennels/pound where she was previously. They ended up chaining her up, she kept slipping her collar. Her collar ended up being soooo tight so she couldn't escape.
I just found out today (by mum) that my niece came home with a beagle puppy last week. 8 weeks old and the guys in the house said leave it outside but luckily my sister won that war and puppy is sleeping inside. The guys at my sister's work are saying to rub his nose in his accidents, hit him with a newspaper....
My sister has looked up some info (I think on beagles) and given it to them - she doesn't even own a dog but she would be a far better owner than my other sister & family
They are like the worst people to own a dog - I AM FREAKING OUT!!
I want to give them a HEAP of stuff to read on how to look after him properly. I am so worried for the poor little guy.
*the fact someone just gave my 17 yr old niece a puppy without asking about their home etc just screams newspaper/BYB purchase
ETA- the last dog Lucy, was taken back to the kennel
