So yesterday started as per usual, got up and got ready for work. Left for work (running late)
Got to work and my mum called me............ at 9:30am
Bailey has jumped the fence and is missing WHAT!!!!!!!!!?????????
I jumped straight back in the car and raced home! (1hr to get to work, 25mins to get home)
Got home and mum was in tears, her husband Ron was very apologetic. He explained that when I left for work he had jumped in the shower and mum had gone for a walk to the shop. He got out the shower and there was Sam and Bailey laying on the kitchen floor eating a loaf of bread! He got angry of course and told them to get outside which they did. He went to his room to get dressed and heard her jumping the fence He raced outside and couldnt see her anywhere so grabbed some shorts and the car keys and went searching. SHE WAS NOWHERE TO BE SEEN! He apologised profusely and said he should have realised that she would be scared of him because he is male.
out we all go searching seperately for 3 hours with no luck! One guy said he had seen her running down Pt Wakefield road and almost got hit by 3 cars but had run back into the side streets. I went home again, exhausted and crying. what if she got hit by a car? what if someone stole her? what if? what if?
I called the local council, RSPCA, AWL and all the local vets in the area and left my details. They advised me to type up flyers etc so I done that and then took to dropping them around at all the local shops, vets, pubs etc whilst looking for her.
I called all my friends in the area and told them to keep an eye out for her.
By 4:45pm my car started leaking power steering fluid and I was absolutely exhausted and lost for ideas on how to proceed.
I drove home and sat at the dining table with my head in my hands. Mums dog Sam was lying at my feet whimpering for his mate. Mum was laying on the couch crying and Ron was in his room. I said to mum that 5:00pm is when she gets fed so I would go out and start looking for her in case she would come out of hiding, looking for food. Mum told me to have something to eat and drink myself before going out searching again.
At 5:00pm on the dot Bailey came crawling (I mean literally crawling) up to the front door crying and wagging her tail I started crying and ran to the front door to let her in. She got up and hobbled inside. Blood all over the carpet I took her back outside and inspected her whilst mum got her a little water to drink. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF HER PADS WERE HANGING OFF!!!
I called the vet and carried her to the car, she slept the entire car ride. Carried her into the vet and they checked her over. She came home with antibiotics and pain relief! She slept all night and got up for a wee this morning, looking very sad and sorry for herself. She can barely walk.
SHE IS HOME!!!!
I have some hard work ahead of me to get my girl where I want her to be mentally.
I just want her to feel safe and secure and know that I will not let anyone hurt her.
Sorry for the long post! Im just extremely thankful that I am not posting here today asking people to look out for her in SA!
