So I enquired with an obedience school over the weekend as we are looking to get Blue some training as she is great in the house but when we are outside she doesn't really seem to listen to us, everything else is more interesting than us!!
I called an obedience school & then they asked what breed she was. I said 'American Staffy', they said 'is she really because a lot of people pretend that their dog is an Amstaff when they are really a pit bull' and I said 'yes I have her papers with bloodlines etc' and they said 'good, because we don't take pit bulls'.
Now, I am not going to take Blue there for the pure fact that they have said this, what kind of a trainer doesn't take a certain breed? I mean it is like saying that a pit bull is too hard work & they can't be bothered. I don't want to take my dog to any trainer that doesn't want to put the extra effort in with any dog.
Do you think this is a bad training school or do you think their points are valid?
I called another school who said they take anyone & that the most aggressive breeds they have are not necessarily the ones that everyone thinks and basically said about not judging the breed. I think I will be taking Blue to this one.
