I personally would use a conditioner on her legs and ears.
You don't want to be setting yourself up for mats as her coat gets longer.
I use schwarzopf leave in conditioning spray just when I am brushing. It's about $3 from Woolworths and helps prevent coat breakage
When I bath I use just a small amount of conditioner diluted in water (Dove brand)
Amy if her coat is long enough to get knots it should have conditioner. Knot free hair makes for happy grooming sessions and happy dogs. Pulling is bad news, no puppy should be turned off being groomed.
ETA - I use copious amounts on the salukis - and they are smooth coated! It is up to you.
lanolin is great for areas of dry irritated skin, i got my tub from the health food shop, i buy the one without colour or perfume, it worked great at getting rid of dry skin problems, i just take a small ball rub it between my hands then rub it through the coat in the effected areas. ( i used to volunteer for a dog shelter in NT) Also good as a barrier cream for humans!
For my short coat Rottie I wash her with Troy's medicated wash and then use Fido's Rinse with adds shine and protects against ticks and fleas. She has a very shining coat but I am sure the once a week sardines and egg also help.
Brain just kicked in... You mean feed sardines and egg.....
( Had visions of one hell of a smelly dog till now )
That really made me laugh!! The visuals of me rubbing sardines on my Rottie then an egg!
Sorry yes I feed her sardines and an egg once week. She loves it but it does make for stinky kisses!!! She also eats tuna every second night. She loves fish. I think she has some cat in her!!!
sardine and egg conditioner YUM!
Made me chuckle, lol.
