I am interested in hearing ppl's opinion about the veterinary support they have in their area, and/or their opinion about vets overall. I don't want this to be argumentive, but an open discussion. Most often (not talking specifically about this forum) when one tries to seek help online the only answer they get is "take it to vet". While some ppl think you don't care if you don't go vet, others are quite anti-vet but still love and care for their animals. Some ppl may not be able to afford the vet. While it is a responsibility you accept upon taking an animal into care, there are times when ppl will stumble across some hardship, and for a pet to become ill at these times makes it feel that much worse knowing your pet needs medical help but you can't afford the vet but need something. Vets are expensive and can be more expensive than it needs to be, especially if one starts carting their pets off to the vet at every scratch or sniffle they pick up. I have no faith in the vets in my area so I travel 140KM (return trip) to seek veterinary attention for my snakes, and Asher will go there too. I will never compromise his health but I am one who likes to post up and learn about my dog's problems and hopefully find a remedy that won't require vet treatment if possible. But if a home treatment isn't working, how long do you give it, before you decide its time to see a vet? Every situation will give you a different answer.
Anyway, let us know you opinion on vets in general. Vets are important, I will never deny that. But are ppl wrong for wanting to seek help here, or anywhere before they consider going to the vets?
