and the dalmations.
So can I take it that you are truly aware of that and am happy to learn and pay for grooming?
Because if so, then yep, I couldn't go past a Standard Poodle for your specific needs.
Australian Cattle Dog - Brilliant focus, easy to train (with the right dog, ask the breeder to match you with a submissive/middle pack one) and they lay down to sleep when you're not doing anything - they don't need to constantly have something to do.
Kelpie - I'm still learning with this one, so far: easy to train, must have something to do always, constantly on the go, very hyper, intense focus, but very rewarding.
BC - Easy to train, can be either laid back or always on the go - IMO best to go with a show line rather than working line in your situation - show lines seem to settle a lot more and show some of the same traits as the ACD, working lines are similar to kelpies, ALWAYS on the go, always needing something to do etc.
Sorry ange, but cattle dogs/kelpies just dont do it for me. besides, I get really bad migraines that are triggered by high pitched noises, and I just cant handle a kelpie bark.
Training is a beautiful thing.... Batty doesn't bark
Besides, with what I was saying, I was trying to point out that a Kelpie wouldn't be suitable where a dog with an ACD's 'settle' would be more suitable for you
With the BC's though, if you do consider them please avoid the 'working' lines and go for a show breeder - I know you're just after a pet but with you having school you need to be able to go to school and not worry about whether or not your dog will be destroying everything in your house and yard!
True.( about the show lines) anyway, with any dog I get, I would be buying from a breeder with very high standards.
DA,i have been curious about the Newfie. What are they like?
Saluki/borzois are gorgeous. I know theres someone who has one on here....
