When I said smack I meant he hit it hard with an open hand. The dog was terrified and submissive straight away as if it was expecting more than that.
If his fist was closed it would have been a solid punch.
I agree, hitting a dog is wrong. Surely the dog has to want to obey a command, hence the treat it gets when it does something right. Rewarding a dog is how it learns right from wrong not by living in fear.
Slightly off topic but funny , the other day the puppy did something 'wrong' and my 2yo decided that was enough and went up to Cookie and said "dont you not eva do that again smaka bum you" later the dog did it again and Tate went over lifted her tail tapped her on the bum and said "you no do that a me I smaka you bum again" with a finger wag!!! I dont smack so dont ask where that came from?!
