So from day one living where I am I have had the problem of Burke the deaf bluey barking when the neighbours backyard is occupied by people. He is not bothered by the greyhound next door, just when people are there he gets anxious and wants attention so he barks.
Well aware that we don't want to reward bad behaviour we try to pay him a little attention by making a peace offering of tennis balls which he loves oh so dearly.
I hung a basket on the fence and put tennis balls in it and suggested the neighbours lob one over when they want some peace. This worked with limited yet satisfactory success.
Anyhow, I don't always replenish the basket and it resulted in barking again. So the neighbour decides one day to throw a handful of dry dog food over the fence. It scatters all over the greyhound pen and gets him on the back which he does not appreciate for some reason. He retreats to shelter for a few minutes and stays quiet afterwards.
So it appears a truce has been achieved as he now rarely has to do anything to get his peace and quiet.
