Well, Inca has just had her first lesson at being left outside on her own. She went for about 20 minutes, which is great considering how many hours she went for last night.
I also ensured that the boys were up and doing stuff inside the house that was of a medium level noise. They were told to totally ignore her cries, which they did perfectly. Very proud of them.
I gave it another 10 minutes once she had stopped completely, and then we went out, gave her attention, a game, and allowed her back in again.
I much prefer to do this exercise for short periods several times a day, rather than a long period that really gets us all nowhere in the end.
I need to go to town and grab a few things in an hour or two, so she will be left outside alone again. One son will stay and can continue to make a little bit of everyday noise inside, and I trust him to ignore her. Once again, I think I shall be gone for about half an hour, so will see how she handles that.
I'm hoping she will have learnt much more confidence in being alone for short periods within the next 48 hours.
Gush gush, she is sitting on command instantly every time already. (I think Newfies like to sit though, so it was REALLY easy! LOL)
