Thread: Ollies Weightloss Progress

    Default Ollies Weightloss Progress

I'm not sure if I mentioned here that Ollie had a wheezing attack a couple of weeks ago and it frightened the hell out of me. I thought he was at deaths door after a 15 minute walk on a mild day.

So before rushing off to the vet and paying a heap of money to find out if he has an elongated palette, I thought I would see if losing a couple of kg's would help. His breathing had only gotten loud in the past few months since putting on weight.

So anyhoo.. in 2 weeks he is looking much better I haven't weighed him, but he looks like how he did at around 10kg's which is pretty healthy for a pug. I would still like to see him a bit leaner though.

He's been eating mainly vegies, but when I am lazy or it's too hot (like tonight) he gets one scoop of weight control kibble.

So here's photos of him tonight doesn't he look brilliant!?!?!

Shouldn't a dog eat meat not vegies? I heard this was bad for their digestive tract?

Yes, Ollie looks fantastic, go Ollie! How old is he?

Thanks Masha I think he's a pretty handsome pug but I am bias

DGP, vegies are good for weightloss. He's nearly 3 years old.

I know they'd be good for weightloss, but don't dogs need meat? They're carnivores yeah?

He does eat meat when he isn't dieting, I have heard of vegetarian dogs before, but I wouldn't do it as a normal diet cause I agree with you.. dogs need meat.

    He looks great pugger

Whats the ideal weight for a pug? Please take no offence as I know nothing about the breed but I thought they were supposed a little chunky round the middle

Apparently they are meant to be around 9kg's.
Anne is a pug rescue person so she is the expert on this stuff and she has mentioned the ideal weight for pugs previously so I am going by that

They also breath better being on the leaner side
