I am so sorry to both of you, you've neally got me crying here, I really don't want to lose Sam and can't imagine how hard it was for you two, and so many others out there.
Occy - 3 dogs that just doesn't seem fair on you.....
RIP doggies .x
i hope we get to see them again one day
Life isn't fair. You seem pretty young - I lost my first shep when I was 18. He was fine when my parents went away and was emaciated by the time they got back. I had been to the vet who told me there wasnt a problem - two days later I went back and he sent us off to the emergency centre.
Barack had haemangiosarcoma - he had cancers right through his soft tissue and organs - I still remember the xray - there were patches of cancer everywhere. He was pts two weeks later because the cancer just took his strength away so quickly.
I didnt handle it particularly well and it took a time to get over.
The main thing is to think clearly without emotion - which is near on impossible. The ultimate question will be - is Sam suffering.
Have you had any more conclusive reports from the vet?
im 16 atm . 17 this year.
a couple of years ago when i got home from school our shepherd was dead, at only 7. we weer so shocked and couldnt see a reason why, dad said maybe cancer or a snake bite. we dont see snakes around here but we lost a horse round the same time for no obvious reason. next door they've lost cattle to snakes.
anyway , also back a couple of years our shepherd X border collie died at 17!
amazing, she couldn't get up, her back legs had gone so she had to be pts.
i've always had this idea in my heads sam would live that long.
... nothing from the vet yet, he said he will call if he gets any results early....
waiting . . .
This is the worst part - it's worse than losing them, it's worse than knowing - it's the uncertainty - at least that was always what it was for me
I am just so grateful that we can give that last gift of love..PTS with our pets. We can not do it for our loved humans.
Any posts made under the name of Di_dee1 one can be used by anyone as I do not give a rats.
been watching the phone all day hoping for the call just got it my heart is still racing, i cant really remember what he said but he said the cells didn't look malignant!!!
okay um can remember much ...crap ....
he said they should probably have a closer look because it was hard to tell just from the fluid in the lump.......
but he said not malignant! that is so good.
im going to get dad to call back tomorrow and talk to him because im a bit confused right now.
also i am very curious about that hole in his skull? he didn't mention much on the phone......he did say the lump will prob build up again ....
think i'll book him in again for that closer look!
doesnt make much sense to me right now......hmm
That's fantastic news kiddo.
The hole in the bone might have been caused due to bacterial infection but who knows
Poppy that's so wonderful to hear!
Such a handsome boy.
Poppyx, that is good news on the fluid from the lump, but please make sure that they review this. With my Ralph, his first biopsy histology was not cancer (reviewed by 3 pathologists), but after the CT Scans and Biopsies from the other side of the mass, it proved to be fast growing malignant cancer.
I pray that Sammy is okay.
