Thought I would start a thread about the different shampoos and when, why and how to use them.
Malesab: Will use Malesab on most dogs that come into care as a first port of call for a general "fix". If the dog has a yeast infection (you can smell an oily smell on them when they do) we continue with Malesab baths every 3 days for 2 -3 weeks. It is VERY drying to the skin, so it can't be used any longer than that at a time.
2 x shampoos at a time and LEAVE the second wash on for 10 mins (cheating time results in not allowing the Malesab to do its job)!
Also good for itchy dogs
And we use it twice a week on the dogs who have Demodex (mange) together with vet prescription product (Ivormectin or Advocate)
Malesab is also a FANTASTIC ear wash!! Mix 50 ml of saline with 5 ml of Malesab, get a syringe and "shoot" 10 ml into each ear 3 x each. Any "gunk" will shoot out so be warned, goes on the floor and the walls and anything else in the way....but it WORKS!
Caution: Do not use a conditioner after washing in Malesab as the ingredients may contradict the potion of the Malesab.
Paw: Gentle Shampoo & Conditioner. Great gentle products for normal wash and wear. Smells GREAT! Leaves the fur super soft.
PAW: Nutriderm Shampoo and Conditioner. Great product that falls in between the Malesab and the Gentle Shampoo. Leave on for 5 mins, adds quality moisture for flakey dry skin. Am currently using this weekly on Gomez to help improve the elastisity in his skin.
Aloveen Conditioner: A lovely gentle conditioner that can be left on (no rinsing). First ingredient is oatmeal which is super soothing (DO NOT use the Aloveen after Malesabing as this will result in counteracting the good of the Malesab)!
Note: for a dog who is itching and scratching, you can also try final rinsing him in cooled camomile tea!!
These are the products I mostly use and favour. Over to you for your fav shampoo & conditioner that you find successful!
