Gomez came into care from Renbury pound 23 days ago. The first 48 hours I fed him on the hour every hour, a closed fist sized meal. I seriously had doubts as to whether he would "make" it, but look at him now!!
He still has a long way to go to be back in good condition, he has very poor muscle tone and his skin and coat are a long way from healthy but he has THE MOST appreciative, divine nature and I will go to the enth degree to see the boy healthy and happy.
I suspect he was bred to show. He is an incredable "opal black" horse coat with a solid rich blue tongue. He was also born on 8/8 and micro chipped on 19/9 with no name which a lot of registered pei breeders do. He has also taken 3 weeks to learn how to sit, something they generally pick up in the first few days of care. For whatever reason, I suspect he was pulled out of the ring and left chained up (on concrete - evidence of a chain and concrete grazes) and probably "used" exclusively for stud purposes.
His nutrition has been so poor for so long his feet were flat to the ground up to his ankles. His snoopy nose was also, totally flat.
Not to worry, give him 6 months with us and he will be a healthy happy fine speciman of the breed......
Gomez is 4 yrs old.
