This is a bit of a vent, so if you're not up for it, skip to next thread now.
I have noticed that since the week before Christmas and certainly this week that there are lots and lots of new puppies - mostly the sort from puppy mills, though met one that looked like a puppy mill dog but is a pure bred something I forget...
Anyway the owners are the least dog savvy people I have ever met.
Some puppies are too young to be out on the public ovals - ie haven't had all their booster vaccinations or waited the two weeks after.
Some are carrying strange injuries - that look like ringworm - you ask the owner, they know it's there but NFI what it is or what it might be. I don't feel good telling them. BTW any idea - bare patch on the sholder that companion dog is very interested in making bigger. Has been there a while, started as "a small black dot", and now is a big pink bare patch with red dots in the middle. My guess was ring worm, but could be a lot of things, especially if the other dog is chewing at it. And joy - ringworm is something to share with the whole family - not to mention everybody else using the dog park. WTF were they thinking...
And then there are the teaming hordes of new dog owners who think it is ok to watch their dog crap and then leave it there.
And just for a bit of doggy Karma - I watched one boy (with a puppy that should be at home for vaccination reasons) - catch a black plastic bag that had fallen out of his pocket and then let it go again to blow right the way across the oval. His father was watching and didn't say anything. Then Frosty grabbed one of this boy's flip flops (thongs), and tore across the oval with it as her brand new favourite toy.
Took boy a while to notice, he'd left his stuff in a pile in the middle of the oval and given what he did with the bag - I figured garbage was garbage - and it didn't matter that Frosty had picked up just a little bit more of it. I didn't make much of an effort to get it back from her. By the time she decided it wasn't interesting any more, she had nearly severed the strap. The boy's father didn't help either - he was laughing. If he'd had a go at me, I'd have had a go right back so maybe just as well. Never seen them before Christmas, and now they've been twice this week. Sigh.
Frosty was kind to them - she didn't grab the other thong - even though the boy had left it there on the ground when he went after the first one.
