Go to bed - stuff the internet tonight - go look after you
But just to get this straight because I'm not exactly wsorking with all my faculties tonight, are you saying that you are now choosing to walk away from Dogforum, and give ppl yiur e-mail address instead?
Please tell me I'm mitsaken, cause that is downright rediculous, and bordering on a flounce.

Night DA - hope its better in the AM
I'm a bit late arriving in this thread but I wanted to STRONGLY agree with DA about the ignore function being private. I have absolutely no problem with it being available but as many have said using it as an insult is pretty childish.
Pugger, if you come back to read this.I know how easy it is to let people on here get to you, been there, done, that, realised how stupid it is to let others get to me. There are plenty of people on here who like you. I do not always agree with what you say, nor you me, but at least you have the guts to walk away, calm down and apologise if you have said things in the heat of the moment. IMO it is a very strong person who can admit they were wrong.
There will always be people in this world you do not get on with. I think you need to try to accept this and move on, concentrate on the rest of the members.
The best things in life, aren't things
I do not purposely Ignore threads Pug. If I am in the category of people that you felt ignored you in a thread you posted it would have been one of 2 reasons. Either I had nothing to comment on as it was not in my area of knowledge or I was not here and missed it. Even though I may show as here a hell of a lot it is just a window kept open in the background at times for convenience and I am probably doing other things, in town or even asleep. I do not post in every thread but there is nothing personal in that.
Any posts made under the name of Di_dee1 one can be used by anyone as I do not give a rats.
Pugger, come back or I'll harass you until you do!!
First, I want to say I totally understand how you feel.
At some point, most of us feel that we are being unfairly or unjustly treated by people on internet forums. My only advice is to take a big breath, walk away for a few hours, play with the dogs and the kids and come back feeling a strong resolve to rise above it (easier said then done I know). Remember, most people, even though they don't actively support you in threads are sitting at their computer screens watching what is happening and are saying "what a bitch that one is for the way she is treating that person". People see and understand more then you think.
Another thing to remember is that these people are just anonymous people on a forum, and they really mean nothing to you in reality. They don't know you, your life or how you feel.
I love the ignore function and I wish every forum I was on had one. Why? Because I have a crap temper that I don't always control well and my mouth can run off with my passion for a good fight at times. Without the ignore function I would be banned from a few forums where there are people who are members that I consider to be total assholes.
*Begin personal rant* I have one little gang (yes, if you're reading it sweetcheeks and gutterslugs) that I KNOW purposely ride me to see me banned from a particular forum. They delight in wondering what my warning level is currently sitting at and they purposely quote my words in their responses so if I have said anything out of line, I can't delete it on second thoughts. Without being able to ignore these scum when I am feeling like voicing my real opinion of them, I would be banned. Sadly, there are a few of them that play the good sport on the forum they are trying to see me banned from and yet the gutless wonders encourage the harassment on their own private forum. These little gutless ones are the worst I feel... fat, lazy bored little housewives and misfits. *end personal rant - that felt better*
I agree that the ignore function should not be used as a tool. I have had a member here who did the exact same thing to me. It was used as a form of harassment against me. After a few pm conversations with other members, I realised once again that others could see what was happening and that it reflected very poorly on that person, not me.
I haven't anyone on ignore at the moment on this forum as no-one raises my passion enough to warrant it. I have, though, put people on here on ignore when I feel myself getting heated. I use it as a control method for myself. I doubt that anyone would know if I had them on ignore though as I don't use it as a harassment tool.

An optimist sees the glass as half full;
A realist just finishes the damn thing and refills it.
Puggerup - there's no way I can consider other people's feelings before I post. I try but I don't always know. Hence previous references to A fish called Wanda. I never know when I'm going to press all the wrong buttons that I didn't even know were there.
I like some of Puggerup's posts, and some seem a bit over the top. Although the reasons why are sometimes explained and seems ok then.
I like Occy's posts. NFI if I like Occy. Too soon to tell.
I have mixed feelings about Cleasanta and partner. Sometimes I like what they post and sometimes I don't. I suspect it's mutual. Doesn't matter a lot to me.
So I don't like the idea of an "Occy and Cleasanta fan Club" or grouping people into one. It's a silly idea because I find their posts and opinions quite different and I might not be the only one. And just because I like Occy's posts doesn't mean I can't like Puggerup's posts too. Nuts.
My understanding is that you would like to be able to have a conversation with Occy, and Occy - at this point in time and for reasons of her own - would prefer not to. I can understand that this would be frustrating but I doubt it is intended as anything personal against you, puggerup.
There are quite a few topics on this forum that completely polarise people to the point where some can't even be rational with a person supporting the opposing idea/opinion. In this case I think it would be only fair to allow or even encourage ignore.
Is it really reasonable to try to force someone to listen to you when they'd rather not? Especially when the main reason they'd rather not listen/read the posts is so they don't feel tempted to post back something unpleasant?
As for whether "Ignore" is used for evil, I can't see a way of making it better without making work for the moderator. Maybe we could require that people not discuss who they have on ignore? Although it makes no difference if they choose not to respond to a post addressed to them even if they had read the post.
