Yes, it is an ANTi climax! lol. A good tale to tell the grandkids, though. Very well written, by the way! A great story.
Oh dear, what an evening but what a relief!

Don't be embarrassed Pugger. Are you kidding? What if it HAD been a dead something. I wouldn't be laughing then.
Seriosuly, if life ever gets too dull I think I should come and stay with you for a while. That story is just priceless and may take you a while to live down.
Oh my god! I was on the dge of my seat reading it and then couldn't stop laughing at the end. How hilarious!
It remind sme actually of a similar thing that I did. Several years ago, OH and I were newly enagaged and had just moved into our first home together. The house was ona batle axe block. The back fence was a wire mesh one, one of those cyclone fence things as the property backed onto what is now the Parramatta Campus of the Uni of Western Sydney. Previous to this it was an old agricultural research laboratory (a guesss by the buildings and greenhouses that were left crumbling).
Curiosity got the better of me a few weeks after we moved in and so I climbed the fence, along with my daughters who were teengaers at the time, and we went exploring in the abandoned buildings.
When we moved around the corner of one building I saw police tape and a notice saying 'crime scene - do not enter'. It was obvious that the tape was a few months old so we continued on. Inside the building we found what appeared to be blood everywhere, large amounts of it! There was more police tape here and there and lots if black fingerprinting stuff everywhere. The horro then hit me that inside the lounge room of the new place was also some black powder stain stuff on the door and some on the window frame.
My imagination runs wild and I am assuming there has been a mass murder and perhaps the killer had murdered someone from the house. By now the kids and I were literally screaming in fear and we hightailed it out of there and back over the fence.
To cut a long story short, I rang the local police to see if they could shed some light on it as I was worried about living near this place. At night, there were no lights in the abandoned buildings and surrounding area and I was a little shaken by it all.
I finally got through to someone who laughed their head off at me when I gave them the address of the building behind us and told them the story I was we ad seen and what we suspected. They apparently were training Police Officers in there in investigating crime scenes and the blood and tape was fake. Nothing had ever happened.
I did find out though later that the house had been broken into at one point and they had climbed in through the unlocked loungeroom window - hence the fingerprint dust on the window frame. I have never felt so stupid!
A pessimist sees the glass as half empty;
An optimist sees the glass as half full;
A realist just finishes the damn thing and refills it.
I guess that is what telly does with your imagination.... An ants nest... ROFL
