I tried to figure out our senate card with 74 names on it.
And of course I can't stick a 1 in my favourite because their preferences are not my preferences - so I have to fill out 74 names. And they'd kind of ribboned the groups on the page so that what would have been 1.5m of voting paper in Canberra was a square grid of contenders, and for some reason I found that harder to keep track of.
So my page ended up covered in black smudges where my pencil eraser efficiently smeared the wrong number into one unreadable blurr, but didn't actually remove it so I could write the number I wanted. Apparently what you do then is put a nice X through the smudge and write the number you do want next to it.
I voted completely differently on the senate to how I voted in the house of reps... And it looks like we have a slightly anxious also Wran in charge this year and I don't think a fear campaign will keep him in place next time, especially if he continues with same old same old.
