Ok so bad news we had to take her back ,she was so upset by the cat that we couldnt even take her out to pee without her loosing it.I had her on the leed and she got off well she bailed my poor cat under the house .My cat swiped at her 3 times and she just keep going back barking and chasing the cat .So I really dont think it was going to get any better and she cant live her life all day inside .I do know the lady had someone elce lined up that didnt have a cat so I know the little dog was going to be re homed.
Sad thing is we really liked her and now dont have a dog guess we just have to keep looking but I will be taking alot more time and I know what questions to ask .Thanks everyone for our help you guys are great .I hope to be back one day with a dog of our own .
I am so sorry to hear this!!!
Even though she was used to cats...doesn't mean she would have liked your cat.
We brought our kitten home and she was used to dogs, but she hates our dogs and it can not be changed. As long as their paths do not cross...we have a happy house. She knows the dogs are downstairs, so she stays more or less upstairs with the kids and our other cat.
We used to have 3 cats and two dogs. The cats were wild cats so not friendly or approachable. The dogs, a Pom and a Poodle X Terrier went nuts for a while but settled in the end. I think it took them about a month to tolerate each other and another month where the dogs allowed the cats inside the house. The cats were my husband's and the dogs were mine!
Sorry to see that the dog has been returned. I can imagine the kids' disappointment. You really didn't give it enough time at all! So for the poor dog!
ROUTINE, ROUTINE, ROUTINE!!!
That's all i can say. Hope you have a good transition.
Sorry it didn't work out. I'm glad she had a return option if you really felt her needs were beyond you and your available time and abilities. It is better to return her than stugggle on by yourself and get frustrated.
Well done for giving her a try. Make sure you let us know if you find another pooch that you think will suit you better.
I did what I thought was right for us
Hey Woohoo, sorry to hear about that.
Next time, you can check whether the dog is thoroughly socialised with cats, and I do mean thoroughly. All the best.
