We have three dogs, one dogue de bordeaux pup, one kelpie x coolie and one mini foxie x chi. I've posted here before about his aggressive behaviour with the other dogs since the death of our Staffordshire Bullterrier Victor a couple of years ago.
Today he bit our son (18months) right under the eye, it was very close to his eye and there was alot of blood and swelling. We took him immediately the 23k's to the doctor who cleaned it again and said no need for suture or glue and gave us some antibiotics for him.
I must say that our son does not lie on the dogs, he does not pull ears, tails or anything else he was trying to pat the dog when this happened and I was present.
I never ever thought this would happen to us, I'm so dissapointed in myself for the "chance" of it happening, and now I am faced with the ultimate decision. As much as my hubby is a softy he would have shot the dog on the spot and rightly so, he still hasn't calmed down much (the hubby, the dog is still hiding)
What do I do? Do I take the dog to the vet and have him put down now that he has actually bitten someone, do I try to retrain again, do I not ever ever ever let the dog back into the house when our son is inside?
My mind tells me one thing but obviously my heart is in another place.
