Ok, I have a male desexed 2.5 year old whippet, I bought him at 7 months, showed him for about 4 months and then he grew too big, so is now a pet. He is well socialized, both around the show ring and in more "normal" circumstances. I also foster dogs so there is a turn over in the back yard of different dogs. We walk every morning and every night and have done since I bought him. I walk on my own with him, my desexed bitch and a foster desexed bitch, and then we hit trouble. When I am walking if he sees or hears a dog he is lunging at the end of the lead and barking and "talking", he looks extremely aggressive so therefore we walk at 5am and 10pm as there is less chance of someone actually seeing us. I have been at parks where I am allowed to take him and he does this and as soon as the other dog gets near he rolls over and pants, I take it as he wants to play and he is communicating with the other dog/s (however I could be wrong). He has never attacked another dog, he has never had a traumatic experience to make him become this way, just about 8 months ago it just became his thing to do. I have tried distracting him, that doesn't work, I have tried the bark on command, that doesn't work. Basically I just pull him along until he is past the dog/s and he calms right down, until the next bark. However he doesn't bark at every bark that he hears, it is just some but does bark at every dog he sees, I don't know if this means anything though. Don't know if anyone could help but any and all suggestions will be taken on board, thanks in advance.
