Coles has been having a dog toy sale. i picked up a couple of sturdy rubber things, somewhat like Kong toys, for $3 each.. i read somewhere that greyhounds like squeaky toys, so i also picked up a smallish bone shaped fabric toy with a squeak in the middle. she is just not interested. i was hugely impressed with a big heavy rope toy, she wasn't... and altho i have taken slippers and thongs away from her, she doesn't chew them, just carries them around for a while. doesn't even go all out for her dental dumbell that we have liberally studded with liver treats, altho she will work on the treats she can easily get out. she just doesn't know how to play.
on the weekend, we studded one of the rubber toys with her kibble, but no interest. i even threw it to her, went over picked it it up and took it back to where i was, and threw it again. she watch me with a confused look on her face, but did not try to join in.
the only thing she has chewed on at all, was a few toilet rolls she took in the middle of the night. she must have been well trained out of the chew thing when she was a pup perhaps?
any ideas on training this dog to play? or do we just have a dog that doesn't want to, and we should just leave her to it?
(she's a rescue, picked up wandering the streets in a bad condition, so we don't know much about her, apart from being part greyhound for sure, and the vet thinks around 2 years old)
