That's right swallow chest gives impression of long legs but todays dogs do have way too long legs in my book.
You have not answered me about what fox terriers my mum had pictures of from scottland.
The "Parson" that has been bred for show has got taller and taller over the years because it is much, much easier to breed dogs for conformation for the show ring out of these taller types. John Russell used to show his dogs against Fox Terriers in the same class so there was very little difference between them in the early days of dog showing. His own kennel consisted of only rough and broken coated types as he believed smooth coated dogs contained bull blood but he was known to use dogs from the Grove Hunt for breeding which at the time had the very best Fox Terrier blood in the world. As for the Scottish dogs do you mean block headed dogs with working Lakeland blood usually with hard wirey jackets?
It would be hard to comment on without seeing the photo. As for the photo of the ANKC Jack Russell Terrier you can see this terrier has a strong influence of Border Terrier, Cairn Terrier and Sealyham in it,s makeup and there is no way it would pass it,s own standard and the "Parson" is a bit on the large side.
