Hi there everyone!
My family recently bought a Sheltie x Jap Spitz pup named Scout, he is now just past 3 months old.
The problem I have is that my brother and mum are at school all day, while I stay at home with him. When they come home every day he gets really excited (as you can imagine!) and he jumps up on both of them. My brother (who is 10 y.o.) doesn't seem to understand how important it is not to let dogs bite and jump up on you, especially puppies as this will affect how they behave later.
He plays 'games' with Scout including...waving his hands in the air and laughing when he jumps up to bite them, taking his toy away from him and thinking it's funny when he jumps but he can't reach it, etc. all involving jumping, biting and growling/barking at people.
My mum is usually very tired when she gets home from work, so she rests on the couch and doesn't watch what they are doing a lot of the time. I get very frustrated because I don't want Scout to become a badly behaved dog. When he barks at these games, she says to just put him outside, and when I complain about my brother's behaviour she tells me to let her deal with it.
I don't know how to make my brother see the importance of training Scout, and especially not teaching him to jump/bite/bark at people. I think that this is going to really affect how visitors are treated by him when they enter our house.
