Hope you all don't mind me sharing this small, probably silly to most, story, but I'm sitting here very proud of my dog at the moment.
Some may or may not recall that we adopted our girl from a rescue shelter in May, she's approx one year old now and whilst she had had little training, we have been working our butts off for weeks with obedience classes and heaps of training and lead work.
I have been really sick the past week with a cold, and we have missed our daily walks during that time - I have felt terrible about it but she has coped really well without her daily exercise.
Today I dragged myself off the couch, the sun was briefly shining so I packed her in the car and we went for just a quick 15 minute walk along the river. She did pretty well without too much pulling and was oh so happy to be out and about again.
I needed more of her food, so stopped by the pet store on the way home. I've always wanted to take her in but haven't known how she'll go cause she is very strong willed at times, and the sign clearly states 'well behaved pets welcome'. Looked at her in the backseat and thought well how will we know if we don't try? I was a little nervous about running into other dogs and she can get quite vocal and excited, but hey, what would be would be.
She was such an angel! Nose was on overdrive, but was so well behaved, didn't try to steal all the treats like I thought she would, and the staff went nuts over her. Another couple at the counter did too, and naturally she lapped up all the attention. And she didn't even bat an eyelid at the other little dog with it's owner who started yapping the moment it saw us.
One of the staff came round and said it was treat time, and he proceeded to make her sit, then drop, then wait and she did everything perfectly a few times. Both him and the couple commented on what a well trained and well behaved dog I had.
Well I could barely fit my big head back out the door I was so chuffed, and lucky they didn't see her refusing to jump back into the car lol
Anyways, sorry to ramble on, but I got home and thought wow, we have come so far from when we first got this crazy dog, and I'm just really proud of her
