Hi there :-) Hoping I can get some advice on an issue I'm having with my two dogs.
So I have two dogs - one is a 10 year old cross bred and the other is a 6 month old GSD X Malinois. The young guy isn't quite old enough to go out for big walks yet (mostly doing dog park, fetch and training sessions at home with him), but the old girl loves to go out for an early morning walk in the bush, of about 5km. The problem I have is that the pup - being of GSD descent - is very shall we say 'vocal' when I leave with the other dog, screaming and carrying on, then settling to a more manageable level after about 5 minutes. It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the fact that the most convenient - and mostly the only - time of day to walk is 5:30am and I don't exactly want my neighbours to hate me.
When he was younger, he was fine when I left, but then the old girl had a bit of a heart scare so we stopped walking until we got the all clear from a cardiologist with her. Since I started walking her again, he's been really going crazy.
I thought about maybe giving him a bone, and while he chews on that, take the old girl out, but I don't know if that sends the right message?
Anyway, I hope someone here can give me some tips because I'm really out of my depth here.
Thanks in advance :-)
