Info on a doog food VIP Gourmet.
My aging girl Tess (she will be 15 on Jan 28th!) is still very bright and active, still able to run and jump, although she sometimes pays for the running next day, with some stiffness in the back legs (being treated).
However, for various reasons she has become increasingly picky about food. She will eat chicken for days, then decide not to. So I start beef, and we go through the process again....beef _and_ chicken, same thing. So never know as I spend time preparing a meal for her (I also was including vegies, rice etc) whether it would be snubbed. SHe had lost a couple of kilos, all because of this.
Recently I spotted VIP Gourmet Premium Chicken dog food in Coles. I thought WTH, it's cheaper than my snubbed cooking give it a go! Well, she LOVES it! She has started demanding food again, usually before the meal is due. She has put on a little weight (which I need to watch, I know, byut she is by no means fat, or even overweight and that's from the Vet). It is a rare occasion now that she shows any sign of not wanting a meal. All good.
The company seems pretty proud of their product and it has chunks of not over cooked carrot, lumps of liver etc in it. It seems to be made without added salt. Has anyone seen any independent nutritional info about the stuff? The fact that my girl loves it will make it tough to give up, but if there are nasties in it then I weill just have to try doing my own recipes again and see what I can do.
Any help appreciated.
