Ok, so our puppy dalmatian will come home with us at 8 weeks old. The only problem is we already have a cockateil bird that rules our back room. He is not clipped so can fly, we keep the cage open but close the other doors to the rest of house, mostly because I feel terrible locking him in the cage all day. When our Dally is older and it is cooler I have no issue keeping him outside under the verandah but it will be too hot when he first comes home. He will be crate trained for when we our out of the house, but is there anyway to teach our Dally from the start that the bird is not a chew toy? I cant imagine keeping him in the crate all day while we are working. My other half works down the street so can come frequently to let pup out to pee but can they ever share the back room? I am very nervous about this.
