I have just joined with the hope that someone here might be able to help.
I know this is a very open question, but I am not after an exact answer, just a rough idea.
I have a 2 1/2 year old kelpie (red dog). He has snapped off one of his bottom k9 teeth. I have no idea how it happened. He has not had any bones, he does not chew sticks or stones. So the cause is not known. I noticed the tooth missing last Thursday. I am a house sitter so move around a fair bit. He is not in any pain or he is not showing it if he is. So I will get it looked at by a vet next week when I get to Victoria. I thought that would be best as I am only here for a few more days.
I have no idea what can be done with dentistry these days, but if possible I would like to keep the tooth and just get it capped. It has snapped off near the gum line and the inner soft parts (nerves etc) are exposed.
The question...What sort of cost should I expect? I expect at least a few hundred. Anaesthetic should be around $150 then the surgery on top of that. Should I expect a few hundred or would expecting $1,000 or more be more realistic?
Thanks for your help.
