Ok a bit of background: My Kelpie cross Rottie is a rescue and he is not so good with meeting new dogs, but is 100% fine with the few he does know. He wears a muzzle when we are at the park (and on walks) its one of those muzzles like a greyhound one , he can still drink and pant and bark but can't bite anyone. And he's pretty good.
So today im at the park (my regular park where everyone knows everyone and we often meet) and a ranger comes up to the park - really friendly guy he was super nice about everything. And he asked who (my dogs) belong to, I said happily 'me' .
He then tells me 3 weeks ago my Kelpie bit a dog and its owner THROUGH his muzzle. Now the only way to get bitten through his muzzle is if you put your fingers through it. And the dog his ear was bitten and again he cannot bite through it I tested it you would have to feed through the ear of the dog into the muzzle. Now apparently the owner was not actually bitten as she first suggested merely scratched and bruised. (this seems a bit suss)
Now I have no recollection of this event because I would have jumped in to help anyway I can, I would be the first to agree if I saw him do anything like this and offer help right away (pay for any bills etc) But even if this happened and I somehow forgot the lady never approached me to say 'Hey your dog just bit my dog and me' And even though he wears a muzzle im very conscious of where he is and the dogs around him.
The ranger was super nice he asked if I would be o to meet with the owner and have a discussion and of course I said yes, I would love to sort this out, because if my dog did do something I need to know and help anyway I can.
And my dog trainer also said it would be impossible for him to bite a dog with the muzzle.
I guess I need to rant is all as there is nothing I can do until this meeting.
But thanks for reading guys.
