I was wondering what the general consensus on using crates is.. my new staffy buddy is a major escape artist, he has broken quite a few things in the house, escaped a few times already, broken a fence etc all in order to try and find us..
I'm scared of him hurting himself with trying to get out of the house.. we tried confining him to the lounge room but the door doesn't lock and he jumped and scratched until the handle opened!! (he's pretty strong!!)
I was wondering if it would be a good idea to provide a crate with his favorite blankets and things in it while we are at work, either put it in the lounge room or the bedroom (his two favorite places). This way at least he is safe, and my house is safe.. until he can really learn to be on his own...
Any suggestions would be more than welcome!!!
PS. I have thought of the option of having a pet sitter and / or letting him stay with others while I am away but I really need him to become more dependent on his own, rather than just prolonging the process..
