wow what a cray two days. I live right on the water and take Layla for walks along the foreshore regularly. So we we walking she is now walking loose leash 80% of the time and we are going great. This area is strictly on leash, a lot of kids etc.
So we are walking along nicely, and two white dogs off lead, they looked like twins, and we're about the size of a kelpie. They ran up to Layla and both started attacking her face she started to bleed, and then ran pulled me over I am bleeding knees and hands, she runs 50m to hide in the mangroves. The man who's dogs they are is belligerent and won't give me a name or any information. I say to him I am going to follow him home and get his address, he laughed and said good luck I am driving, also you have to get your dog out of the mangroves.
So I went home, cleaned Layla up, called the vet, he said to antiseptic her wounds use some arnica and recue remedy and call back the next day, I had to get him out and Layla is on antibiotics and some cream. No stitches thank goodness.
I called the council, made an extensive complaint, had to go in and sign an affidavit and I got the joist that these dogs are well known to the ranger so that was pretty horrible but then.......
The next day we are doing a short walk, and another off lead dog came barreling up a red heeler and started to growl and bit her muzzle. The owner ran up trying to control her dog, which was rather unsuccessful a man passing stepped in and got the dog off.
I turned to the lady, told her that her dog should be on a lead, also my dog has had three eye operations to the sum of thousands of dollars and if her dog had bitten her it would be thousands to fix and I would get every cent from her. I got her name and address and reported her and the dog.
The vet came out and said Layla would be fine. It was amazing she is so much bigger than these dogs but was so scared and did not retaliate. Poor Layla, she is getting spoilt ATM and all her favourite toys and treats.
When will people learn to put their dog on a lead, especially if they are prone to instigating aggressive behaviour.
Thanks for reading this long post I had to rant.
