He's now 20 months old, lost his dangly bits 3 months ago. Also his brain with the onset of adolescence. How glad am I now that I put in the work when he was a pup! It was hard work then, but would be near impossible now, he can't focus for more than a few seconds these days. He is a really good boy all things considered though. He has lovely manners, and is as sweet a dog as is possible.
I've had to reinforce 50m of fence as the hound decided he liked to dig mastiff-head sized holes under it then mastiff-force his way under until dog wire started snapping and pinging allover the place. Thank god he still hasn't realised that he could sail over it if he wanted to.
He's now on prescription diet kibble and white rice. We've tried everything diet-wise and there is very little he can handle - it's not just meat protein. The vet gave me a recipe of potato, sweet potato, pumpkin and beans (red kidney, black-eye etc for protein). He handled the veges, but not the beans. Fortunately he's doing really well on the rice and it's cheap. The poor, long-suffering sal (who is constantly having her face chewed on) is loving the trial and error variety diet.
Loving my big expensive boy, but man, I thought he was stoopid when he was a baby....
Btw, yet another Abe problem. He's showing signs of urinary incontinence since being desexed. Is this common, or at least known? or could it be that he has an infection? I've spent so much money on him lately that a vet visit has to wait another week or 2. He's really well other than that, and jumping out of his skin energy wise, but wow, could this dog have any more problems! Any advice on the dripping? (and yes, we will go to the vet soon)
